In this section of David Kinard's executive online portfolio, David lists several of his favorite marketing resources. These are the same tools David uses in his own marketing.

Free Marketing Resources

"It is increasingly rare in one's professional life to come across someone as generous with his knowledge and resources as David Kinard."

Kristen Gauche’, Director of the Center for Professional Development

Seattle Pacific University

I was honored many years ago when Kristen wrote this testimonial for me. I've regularly come back to it as a reminder of how fortunate I've been to receive support from others. I hope to pay that support and kindness forward. The resources below are just a small list of things I feel are helpful, tools to generate creative thinking, and can help to make us all better people. I occasionally update this page taking some off, and putting some on.

MarketAbility by David Kinard (blog)

This is my blog. I've tried to make it practical and not just a comment on what else is going on out in the world. Typically I write some type of how-to entry or a perspective on how things should be done. If you're a former reader of Monday Matters (there were more than 7,000 of you at one point) this is a departure from that format.

Personal Value Extraction Plan (Excel)

I created this years ago as a tool for tracking and measuring the effectiveness of networking events, luncheons, and association memberships. It's a great tool and works well with Ann Amati's 20 Nickel Program.

15 Publication Questions (PDF)

Having created hundreds of publications in my career -- and mailed more than one million direct mail pieces -- I've found that asking these few simple questions prior to the beginning of a project always saves time and money.

7 Habits of Highly Effective People Summary (PDF)

It's a quick read if you want a refresher, or a great introduction to the book if you're unfamiliar with Stephen Covey's seminal book on personal effectiveness. This isn't about time management or getting organized, it's about living a life of value and purpose.

Fundraising Gift Range Calculator (Web)

It's a relatively simple tool but highly useful when thinking about your next fundraising campaign. This calculator from Blackbaud allows you to enter in the amount you wan to raise, and then it suggests to you the number of donors you need (and at what level) to achieve your goal. An insightful tool.

Go-To-Meeting (service)

I don't get any type of money for recommending their services, but Go-To-Meeting is a free resource and one of the most effective ways I've found to share ideas and presentations via the Web.

ConferTel (service)

I've used these people for years and have never found a similar service that matches their high level of customer service, customer care, and customer focus. If you need a bridgeline or phone conferencing service that has all the bells and whistles at a very affordable rate, then check them out.

Marketing NPV Journal (Web)

MarketingNPV Journal is published four times a year and mailed to senior marketers and qualified segments of the MarketingNPV.com registered member base. The journal is designed to raise awareness, provide perspective, frame important issues, and showcase effective solutions in marketing decision making. This is an essential, must-read publication if you want to track and measure your marketing ROI.

Lost Customer Worksheet (Excel)

We've all heard before the idea that it takes a lot less to keep a customer than it takes to get a new one. The reason for this is that all the investment made to originally acquire a customer is capital lost when that customer leaves, it needs to be spent again to get a new customer, and then again once more to actually grow in customer base. This simple worksheet illustrates this point.
