Personal Brand Highlights
I've always held to the idea that I have a
personal brand. And, though there may be several people with the
name David Kinard in this world, there is only one me. Below are a few ways that
I've worked to develop my personal brand and distinguish myself.
Hold Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) designation
Hold facilitator designation for the 7
Habits of Highly Effective People
- It's not enough that I be an expert in
marketing, but that I also strive for the highest possible
development of my character as well. Written by Stephen Covey,
the 7 Habits of Highly
Successful People is the #1 best selling business book
of all time. Hmmm...maybe there's something to that idea of
being proactive after all.
Host of Marketing News Radio
- One of the greatest things about being
David Kinard is that I get to host the American Marketing
Association's weekly, live radio program
Marketing News Radio. For the past four years I've
interviewed dozens of authors, thought-leaders, experts, and
cutting-edge practitioners. You can
listen live on Wednesdays
at 9 a.m. PST or listen to dozens of past shows in the archives
here and
here.
Adjunct Marketing Professor
- I've been an adjunct professor at two
Seattle-based universities for nearly 10 years now. I created
the curriculum and taught the Professional Marketer Program for
Seattle
Pacific University. This six-course, 30-week program ran for
three years and graduated many of today's top Seattle marketers.
I also teach MBA marketing courses at
Seattle University on a regular basis.
Received official recognition by
Washington Governor Gary Locke
- I was fortunate enough to be a primary
contributor in developing the
Marketing
Skills Standards education program for Washington State
schools. This was an honor to be asked to participate, and a
genuine thrill to be a part of shaping the minds of high school
students across the state.
Earned Master's Degree in Education with
Emphasis in Marketing
- A strong believer in lifelong learning,
I earned my graduate degree from Western Washington University.
I chose education because I believe that marketing is also about
educating consumers about your products, services, and
organization. This advanced knowledge provides me with a deeper
understanding of consumer behavior and how to create powerful
communications programs.
Paying it all Forward
- To date, I have served more than 10
thousand hours in volunteer service to worthy organizations. I
believe that I belong to a greater community and should add my
skills and talents for the greater good. I have been highly
fortunate to learn from others who have freely given their time
and energy, and I want to do the same.
